Our Story
Camp UTADA was founded in 1962 as the first diabetes camp West of the Mississippi River and has grown from it's simple beginning with 7 campers and 4 volunteers to a camping program with nearly 1,000 campers and volunteers annually. From a single initial session, Camp UTADA has grown into a year-round program with several full week resident camping programs for children ages 8 - 17; multiple weekend family camping sessions for children aged infant to 8 years of age and their families; and weekend winter camping overnight programs.
The Foundation for Children and Youth with Diabetes, Inc. (FCYD) was formed in 2001 as the non-profit charity organization that operates FCYD Camp UTADA.
